Madeline hails from the Twin Cities, MN and has been cycling since she was very young with no better teacher than her dad. When she was 16 years old she did her first race during the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival. She was hooked. It wasn’t until college that she started training and racing more seriously on the UMN Cycling team, eventually racing road for Watt Riot Cycling and now Borah Teamwear on the mountain bike.
Some highlights from her career have been an 8thplace finish in the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival, 1st in the NCCCC conference championships XC, and 2nd in the MWCCC conference championships. At the National level she placed 6th in club short track XC, and 13thin XC.
Along with racing, Madeline is passionate about bringing more people - especially women and girls to cycling. She volunteers her time as a Little Bellas Mentor and works as a coach for Loppet Cycle Works sharing her love for riding, racing, and playing outdoors. Off the bike Madeline can be found working as an electrical engineer, but not for long, as she’s leaving the Midwest this fall to pursue and PhD in Translational Biology Medicine and Health at Virginia Tech!
Ash was born in Merrill, WI and has been cycling for 3 years. She found mountain biking as a way to recover from an ankle injury and fell in love with it after just one ride. She races mountain bikes primarily, but enjoys cycling in all forms including fat biking, gravel grinding, and commuting 365 days a year in the ever snowy Keweenaw Peninsula of Upper Michigan. Before signing onto Borah Teamwear Mountain Bike Team, Ash started off her racing career as a Junior in college with Michigan Tech’s Cycling Club. Some highlights from her 2 years spent with them were at the National level finishing 4th in club omnium, 4th in club dual slalom, 7th in club downhill, and 12th in club XC. For Borah Teamwear this season, she had multiple top 5 finishes in the WORS Pro/Elite series, several top three performances in the Lake Superior Gravity Series, and was crowned Queen of Copper Harbor Trails Fest.
Besides racing, Ash loves to have fun on the bike and is a large advocate for adventure. She has goals to bring more under represented groups into the cycling world, and focuses on inclusivity. She is passionate for trail stewardship and making sure trails are built in a sustainable manner that is great for bikers and the environment alike. This fall her training will be taken to a whole new level as she is preparing to race tandem road and track with Kristen Fleschner, a blind-visually impaired athlete. They will be working hard to try to earn a trip to the Paralympics. Off the bike they have a strong friendship, and on the bike they are one determined duo.
