I had my 5 ounces of syrup in my flask and it kept the engine running strong at all times Saturday!
This is a brutally hard road race. 56 miles of coulee country out of Chaseburg. One of the hardest races I’ve ever done because the guys made it hard. Jeepers it was hard. But as usual I was ready when it mattered and the 50 man field widdled to 4 with about 15 miles to go. That becomes a chess match of tactics. I chose the worst tactic at the end leading the race with about 800 yards to go. Just like Nascar that’s probably the worst place to be. Just like Nascar drafting is a massive advantage and this time I hung myself out to dry and settled with 4th. At this level, you don’t ride guys out of your draft. Everyone is strong. It was still a really good result as the very best cyclists in the region were in this race with a few pros sprinkled in as well.
Jacob took 2nd place in the Criterium yesterday in Cat 3. We had a rider that did well racing masters and we had other place winners through the weekend.
