We had a great weekend up in Cable. Saturday I rode with my in-laws and nephew Ben on the short course track. Ben is very young, but his handling skills exceed mine!
Sunday I had a great ride but suffered a chain failure 5 miles in. After repairing for a couple minutes I chased back to the 4 leaders which took a 100% effort for about an hour. 3 of those 4 guys were teammates and they got away from me in a technical section and I couldn’t catch back after that. Not even 10 ounces of syrup was enough on this day. With 10 miles to go, I was fearful of not finishing. Pedaling at all was hard, I rolled into the finish completely spend. I gave it everything I had and finished 5th overall.
